Case Studies: How did they get it done?
When a major project is outside their area of expertise.I've found that many organizations are reluctant to start. These cases illustrate my approach to custom application development.
I've chosen three cases to write about.
- On Our Secure Network Server: A Boston property tax management firm files tax appeals for corporate clients around the Northeast. Quarterly, semi-annual and annual filings require on-time and to-the-penny accuracy. Filing formats range from standard business letters, to highly formatted legal documents. Company professionals link to our servers to share data from their 3 Massachusetts locations.
- On Client's Local Network Server: A western Maine school district uses its own infrastructure to host an OnlineFx solution. A comprehensive system for managing and analyzing achievement scores throughout student careers. (FileMaker Pro® 7, 8: 2005-06.)
- Distributed data collection, centralized data reporting: In use at sites statewide, MAEMIS sends local data directly to Augusta to meet state and federal requirements. MAEMIS is the official database of the Maine Department of Education's Adult Ed program. (FileMaker Pro® 5, 6: 2001-06; FileMaker Pro® 8 release in spring 2007.)
